Grand Winner and Final Email

Hello world!

This is the last update you will receive from the 2024 Techathon. The winners were already announced in school and most of the prizes distributed. If you have not received your gift card prize yet or you need to pick up your gaming headset for the game development challenge, please find Mrs. Curiel. The winners can always be viewed in the site gallery!

The grand prize winner has been selected! After much conisderation, the grand prize is being awareded to "Color Splat Game Thingy" by Sander Negron. Some of you may be thinking, how did he win grand prize if he won second place in game development? Remember this is an all around, well rounded award! His work and effort stood out as very impressive. Sander embodied the true spirit of a hackathon event and spent the weekend learning and developing new skills. He learned how to use a game engine called Godot, learned how to use their programming language, made his own art sprites, and even uploaded to an itch.io page. While it did not affect his judgement in this event, he has even updated it a few times since submitting! He truly experienced the entire process of indie game development and the team is very proud of his work.

Thank you to everyone for participating in the event. We had a blast and I know all the particpants did too! Stay on top of the skills you learned and keep any connections with new friends you networked with. Have a great summer everyone!
